The Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run/WALK

IMPORTANT WEEKEND INFORMATION:

Thank you for signing up for the Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run! In order to put on this event, strict time constraints must be met by us, the organizers, but more importantly, by you - the participants. We ask for your cooperation in adhering to your shuttle assignment in order to get everyone to the start line on time. Please allow yourself plenty of time on race morning to find parking and board a shuttle.

• ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSED.

• Onsite registration will be held Friday from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Newport Visitor's Center. Please note that there is NO ONSITE DAY OF REGISTRATION available on Sunday morning.

Sunday, October 25: Newport Visitors Center, 5:25 a.m. - 6:30 a.m. (no onsite registration available)

Parking

Free parking will be available at the Gateway Center until 9:30 AM. Space is limited in this lot so we encourage you to consider all parking options throughout Newport, but please be aware that parking meters and major lots are still charging at this time of year. Suggested Parking Locations.

Jamestown Drop-Off

There is a drop off location for participants in Jamestown not wishing to take the shuttles. This is at the intersection of Freebody Drive and East Shore Road. This specific location is designated for the safety of our athletes and volunteers as well as drivers using the roadways. Please only drop participants off at this location and do not exit your vehicle until you are greeted by our volunteers and do not get dropped off on Rt. 138 by the Toll Plaza.

NEW! Waved Start

Due to the newly installed Median Barriers on the Claiborne Pell/Newport Bridge there will be a wave start this year. Runners and walkers will be asked to organize by pace time with elite runners going off first and walkers going last. We ask all participants to align themselves by the appropriate pace so we can ensure a smooth race. There will be volunteers and members of the race staff assisting with the pacing process.

First Wave (7:15AM): 9 minute pace and faster
Second Wave (7:18AM): 9 to 11 minute pace
Third Wave (7:22AM): 11 to 14 minute pace
Fourth Wave (7:27AM): 15 minute pace and slower

Please Stay in the right lane and Do not delay while on the bridge.
With the presence of the median barriers we are no longer able to divert traffic to the Westbound lanes on the bridge. Rhode Island State Police will now escort traffic over the Pell Bridge during the race in the East bound high speed lanes while runners/walkers will only have the right hand lane on the bridge to run/walk. It is critical to the success of the event and for the safety of all participants that you remain in the right hand lane throughout the race. We also ask that all participants please resist delaying for too long at the top of the Bridge to take photographs. We have hired additional photographers that will be stationed on the Bridge to take pictures of participants. Please enjoy the views, but keep moving throughout the event.
